Jacques Sluysmans

Jacques Sluysmans (1975) studied in Leiden, Paris and Brussels. He conducted research in Ithaca, New York, and Stellenbosch, and obtained his PhD in Leiden in 2011 with a dissertation entitled The vitality of compensation law in expropriation cases: a study of theory and practice.

Jacques has worked as a lawyer since 2000 and is currently a partner at Van der Feltz in The Hague. Since 1 February 2013, he has been Professor of Expropriation Law at the Faculty of Law of Radboud University Nijmegen. He publishes and teaches on expropriation law, government liability law and tolerance obligation regulations. Jacques is, among other things, principal lecturer and initiator of the CPO’s Expropriation Law course.

Jacques is also active as a binding adviser and NAI arbitrator, chair of the Zuydasdok Compensation Committee, chair of the Dutch Construction Law Association, chair of the Dutch Association for Expropriation Law, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Young Real Estate Lawyers Association and the International Expert Group on Expropriation.
